this article may be usefull to those who want to access specifical host via proxy server, these hosts may be blocked by LAN firewall or cannot be accessed by users in education WLAN

install tsocks

@:sudo apt-get install tsocks

or

@:sudo aptitude install tsocks

configure tsocks

usually the configure file should be /etc/tsocks.conf read the hint carefully you should set the following properties at least, and can comment all others by starting with ‘#’

local = proxy-server-ip/255.255.255.255
server = proxy-server-ip
server-type = 4/5
server-port = 1080

you can get free proxy servers from internet

use tsocks

@:tsocks your-application

problem you may get

proxy-server-ip is not in local subnet

this because you use default ‘local’ value that may be 192.168.. or something else, you should make ‘server’ value exactly same as ‘local’ value and set sub-mask to 255.255.255.255 not to 255.255.255.0

proxy-server can not be reached

select an active server instead
